The 19th International Conference on Knowlege-based and Intelligent Information & Engineering Systems (KES 2015) was held on September 7-9th, at the spectacular Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. KES conference represents one of the largest gathering of researchers, scientists and industry professionals in the field of Knowledge-based and Intelligent Systems in the world. This year, about 250 delegates from around the world attended the conference to present research accomplishments and to discuss the latest advances in tools, technologies and applications in Intelligent Systems.
From our lab, Professors Seta & Hayashi and I attended it to present the results of our current research entitled “A conversational agent to encourage willingness to communicate in the context of English as a Foreign Language”. The paper that we submitted was published in the conference proceedings and can be accessed from the following link: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1877050915023467
My presentation took place on the first day (September 7th) during the Invited Session 24. After my fifteen minutes of oral presenation, I was asked several questions related to my research and also got insightful comments that will certainly help me achieve more in the future.
Attending KES 2015 provided me with a valuable learning experience. It was my first international conference and I was a little bit anxious the first day but it was an excellent opportunity to interact and exchange with many academics and professionals from different countries who have similar research interests. The conference also gave us the opportunity to attend a social outing where we were kindly escorted around the whole city and could discover and enjoy the charms of Singapore.
Last but not least, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my supervisors Professors Seta & Hayashi as well as Professor Kojiri (Kansai University) and her students (Yuta Miki and Ryota Hashimoto ) for their generous support and guidance from the first to the last day of the conference.
